Diagnostic Eye Center Rodenstock

Mi Optica has developed into a revolutionary diagnostic eye center with the DNEye® scanner2+, Fundus scanner, and the ImpressionistST4 from Rodenstock. The DNEye® scanner2+ is used to make a precise 3D eye measurement at more than 7.000 points at the front of the eye. The Fundus scanner goes to the back of the eye and is used to measure the health of the eye, including the retina. It can detect all kinds of damage or abnormalities such as diabetes, glaucoma or, for example, the effects of a heart attack and high cholesterol. The ImpressionistST4 takes a 3D photo or video of the face with the glasses on. This allows it to measure all parameters in your face, making sure that you get your perfect prescription glasses. The combination of this modern technological equipment is unique in Curaçao and the Caribbean.

Contact lens fitting

You want to switch from wearing glasses to contact lenses. But if you’ve never worn lenses before, it’s important to get the right lenses fitted by the optician first. The optician at mi optica will first ask a few questions about your daily life to see which type of lens suits you best. Your eyes are also measured during the fitting of the lenses. This allows the optician to be sure that the lenses fit your eye perfectly and feel as comfortable as possible. Some eye problems may require medical contact lenses. This may include improving the visual acuity of an eye, for example in the case of keratoconus, corneal dystrophy or trauma, or to improve the appearance of a damaged eye, to treat dry eyes, to support drooping eyelids or malfunctioning eyelid muscles, and twitching eye movements.

EYE PROBLEMS

Glaucoma

Glaucoma occurs from damage to the eye’s optic nerve and can often lead to loss of vision and blindness. To detect glaucoma, our highly trained doctors will perform a proper screening to determine severity, examine the damage, and help you manage your glaucoma.
Early detection of glaucoma is crucial in preventing vision loss and blindness; the earlier the better. However, there is no official cure for glaucoma. There are several treatment methods that manage, slow down, or halt the process. Treatment for glaucoma will vary depending on the stage and severity for each individual patient.

Cataracts

Cataracts cause a clouding of the lens in the eye, making your vision appear to be foggy. Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in people over 40 and are the leading cause of blindness in the world. Your eyes are meant to naturally adjust to normal light changes, adjust focus, and allow us to see both near and far. Your lens is primarily made up of water and proteins. The proper arrangement of these proteins is what contributes to normal vision. Some of these proteins clump together forming a clouding of the lens.

Computer Vision

Computer Vision is a relatively new term within the optometry field and refers to eye problems associated with the prolonged use of computers and electronics that utilize a digital screen. Although it can be temporary, there are times when computer vision can strain the eyes to a degree that permanently affects your vision as well. An existing eye condition can worsen as the eyes try to focus and adjust to a computer screen, and precautions should be taken if you spend long hours in front of a computer screen. If you have been experiencing blurry vision, dry eyes, eye strain, headaches, neck or back pain, try adjusting the lighting, posture, and the distance in front of your computer screen. If computer vision symptoms persist, call us to request an appointment, we will perform a full evaluation.

The brains of a FD-patient are not able to merge the images of both eyes to one image. This gives blurred vision and can cause a long list of complaints, for example: burning and/or dry eyes, a tired feeling, a headache above the eyebrows and neck- and shoulder complaints. But also suffering from imbalance, poor eye/hand coordination en trouble with reading and writing are symptoms that may indicate FD. Do you recognize this? Try our questionnaire to determine whether FD may cause your complaints.
